WWE SmackDown Results: Nick Aldis attacked after threatening to fire top star; Cody Rhodes heel turn teased; Bloodline assault (12/27/2024)

We got a recap of the recent events between Kevin Owens and Cody Rhodes before Nick Aldis kicked off WWE SmackDown. Aldis said that Owens still had possession of the WWE Championship belt and had till the end of the show tonight to hand it over or face 'severe consequences.'

Bianca Belair and Naomi were backstage, and the latter talked about how the tag titles meant a lot, so she stepped in to defend them last week. Belair said that she was still seeking revenge on whoever hurt Jade Cargill before Naomi announced that Bayley would be joining them in a six-woman tag match tonight.

Nia Jax was making her entrance for the following match when she said she wasn't involved in the attack on Cargill; neither Tiffany Stratton nor Candice LeRae was.

Jax insinuated that Belair was jealous of Cargill and took her out herself out of jealousy. Nia said she would have done the same in her position before we headed for the match.

WWE SmackDown Results: Bayley, Bianca Belair, & Naomi vs. Candice LeRae, Nia Jax, & Tiffany Stratton

Belair and Naomi kicked off the match, and Stratton headed outside early on before Bianca and her friends hit triple dives to the outside. Jax came in and got a near fall off a headbutt before LeRae got the tag and was isolated in the ring.

After a break on SmackDown, Naomi got some big elbows and a roundhouse kick before Stratton broke up the pin off the moonsault. Jax was taken down, and Stratton ran out to get her Money in the Bank briefcase, but LeRae stopped her from cashing in. Naomi hit the Full Nelson Bomb off the distraction on LeRae for the win.

Result: Bayley, Bianca Belair, & Naomi def. Candice LeRae, Nia Jax, & Tiffany Stratton

Backstage on SmackDown, A-Town Down Under complained to Nick Aldis about Braun Strowman attacking them, and Aldis told them to take it up with Strowman.

Sami Zayn came in to speak with Aldis and wanted a shot at the Bloodline before Carmelo Hayes showed up to hand out Christmas Cards. Sami told him to go away, and Melo got in his face before Aldis booked a match between the two.

WWE SmackDown Results: Austin Theory vs. Braun Strowman

Theory tried to get some strikes early, but Strowman took him out with a huge tackle. After a break on SmackDown, Austin hit a reverse STO and a chop block before he was sent outside.

Grayson Waller tried to interfere, and Braun stomped on his hand before heading outside to toss Theory back in the ring and take down Waller with a tackle. Back inside, Strowman hit the running powerslam for the win.

Result: Braun Strowman def. Austin Theory

Grade: C

Kevin Owens was in his car and claimed to be the WWE Champion. He wouldn't give up the title but agreed to talk to Aldis one-on-one.

Piper Niven was out next to decorate the ring for Chelsea Green's title win celebration before Green showed up and joined her in the ring. Green said she was the most glamorous Women's United States Champion and wanted the crowd to recognize her.

Green trash talked a bit about Michin before the latter made her entrance with a Kendo stick and asked if Chelsea would be champ without interference from Niven. Piper ran out to meet Michin and was hit with the weapon before Michin attacked Green in the ring. Piper quickly dragged Green out of the ring as the two escaped backstage.

DIY was backstage and ran into Nick Aldis and The Street Profits before the Pretty Deadly joined them and said that Angel Garza attacked the Profits.

The Profits immediately ran off and attacked Los Garza before a brawl broke out, and we headed for the following match on SmackDown.

WWE SmackDown Results: Los Garza vs. The Street Profits

Berto and Ford were in the ring, and the latter got a big lariat before Dawkins came in off the tag. Los Garza got some double-team moves before Montez came back and we got a big sequence for dives.

Ford took a big top rope double-team slam and stereo dives on both Profits for a near fall. Elektra Lopez interfered, and B-Fab took her out before Profits came back with thier double-team Doomsday Blockbuster on Garza for the win.

Result: The Street Profits def. Los Garza

Grade: B

Backstage on SmackDown, The Street Profits, Motor City Machine Guns, and Pretty Deadly were all looking for tag title matches when Apollo Crews came in and told the Profits that DIY attacked them earlier.

WWE SmackDown Results: Sami Zayn vs. Carmelo Hayes

Carmelo Hayes was handing out Christmas Cards to the crowd before the match began, and once the match began, Hayes was sent outside before Sami hit a big moonsault on him off the apron and onto the floor.

Back after a break, Zayn got the Blue Thunder Bomb for a near fall before Melo came back with the First 48 for a near fall of his own. Melo headed up top for Nothin' But Net but caught a clothesline from Sami instead.

Melo took the exploder suplex but tried to run out on the match when Braun Strowman came out and chased him off backstage. In the ring, the Bloodline attacked Sami, who managed to dodge a move in the corner but was taken down by Tama Tonga.

Result: D.N.F

Strowman came back and wiped out the Bloodline, taking Solo out with a big shoulder tackle. Jacob Fatu got in Strowman's face before Tama and Solo came back to corner him and hit him with the Samoan Spike.

Zayn fought back, and the brawl continued before Fatu took him out with a moonsault, and Solo hit the spike on him.

Kevin Owens' music hit, and the Bloodline made a swift exit as SmackDown continued.

Nick Aldis was in the ring with Kevin Owens after a break, and Aldis asked KO to hand over the title belt. Owens said it was his only bargaining chip, and he wanted a rematch for the Undisputed WWE Championship without the referee's interference.

Aldis said it wasn't a negotiation and threatened to fire Owens before Cody Rhodes' music hit. The champ came out with the old WWE Championship belt, and Aldis told him to walk away for the sake of his health.

Rhodes said that he wasn't going to walk away and wasn't going to let Owens martyr himself.

Cody said he was doing this not for himself but for everyone who believed in him, like Randy Orton. Owens mocked him, and Cody told him to shut up before saying they were no longer friends. Cody said he wanted a match in which the ref couldn't stop what he would do to Owens as he stepped into the ring.

Rhodes wanted a ladder match with the title hanging up over the ring, and Aldis booked the match for Royal Rumble! Owens accepted the terms and wanted to shake Cody's hand, but the champ refused.

Owens said okay and attacked Cody before shoving Nick Aldis, kicking him in the neck as he fell and walked off yelling and cussing as SmackDown went off the air.
