Sami Zayn (c) vs. Jeff Hardy - Intercontinental title match on SmackDown

Sami started off strong and had sneakily removed the cover off the top turnbuckle before they headed outside. Hardy went for a risky move on the barricades but Sami sidestepped and Jeff went crashing into it before we headed for commercials.

Back on SmackDown, Sami hit a diving elbow and was setting up for a top rope move but Hardy went up to him for a huge Superplex! Hardy hit the inverted Atomic Drop - Basement Dropkick combo and then a splash for a near fall.

Zayn countered the Twist of Fate and hit the Exploder Suplex before hitting the Blue Thunder bomb. Hardy hit the Swanton Bomb but Zayn got his knees up. Zayn missed the Helluva kick but sent Hardy into the turnbuckle anyway for the win.

Result: Sami Zayn def. Jeff Hardy to retain the Intercontinental title

Match rating: A

Episode rating: B-

We got a slower episode of SmackDown tonight. The opening segment with Reigns and the KO Show were obvious highlights of the night while three big matches were set up for next week.
