WWE Smackdown spoilers & analysis for March 5th 2015

Once again the focus for this week’s SmackDown taping centred on the IC championship and other mid card mania feuds. There were some interesting developments in the IC ladder match build up as well as the #GiveDivasAChance and #Axelmania movements. Below are the complete spoilers for the March 5th tapings.

-Dolph Ziggler kicks things off with an in ring promo. He speaks about the IC title and how he never got a rematch. He then officially announces he will be a part of the IC ladder at match at WrestleMania 31 and challenges Daniel Bryan to join the bout as well. Bad News Barrett interrupts and demands Ziggler give him his IC title back. Luke Harper sneaks up on Ziggler and a brawl breaks out between the three before being joined by Dean Ambrose. Meanwhile, R Truth sneaks into the ring and steals the IC title again.

-Truth sees Renee Young backstage and tries to give her the belt. She says he should give it back to Ambrose.

-Cesaro & Tyson Kidd defeated Los Matadors in a non-title match. Kidd cheated when the ref was distracted.

-Ryback defeats Kane via the Meathook Clothesline. Following his loss, Kane announced another match for Ryback against Big Show that would begin immediately.

-Big Show defeated Ryback thanks to help from Kane.

-Bray Wyatt cuts another mysterious promo about The Undertaker. – He says the awakened waits and tells The Deadman to rise.

-Another Sheamus return vignette airs

-Daniel Bryan is interviews backstage. He says the IC title is becoming exciting and the Ladder Match at WrestleMania might just steal the show. He also says he's looking forward to seeing who gets the title.

-The New Day defeated The Miz and Damien Mizdow. There was further tension between Miz/Mizdow.

-Renee Young interviews Jack Swagger backstage

-Roman Reigns cuts a backstage promo talking about Lesnar and Heyman

-Rusev defeated Jack Swagger via The Accolade. Curtis Axel cut an #Axelmania promo on the tron and said he’s coming for Rusev’s US title.

-Dolph Ziggler & Dean Ambrose defeated Luke Harper & Bad News Barrett in tag team action when Ziggler hit a superkick/zig zag on Harper to pick up the pinfall. Post-match, Barrett attacked Ziggler and Ambrose. Barrett attempts to get his title back off Truth. He is about to hand it over but Ambrose dives through the ropes and takes Barrett out. Truth tries to leave but runs into Harper. Truth knocks Harper down and goes to leave again but Daniel Bryan comes out. Truth gives him the belt, starts a yes chant and leaves. Bryan starts to celebrate but is attacked by Stardust. Stardust starts to climb a ladder and poses on it with the belt before leaving

Analysis

Once again the IC title was a main focus of Smackdown. Ziggler, Ambrose, Barrett, Harper, Truth, Bryan all continues with interactions suggesting they will also be a part of the ladder match. Ziggler officially confirmed his position while Stardust now also appears to have thrown his name into the mix by attacking Bryan to close the show. It will be interesting to see if Goldust also gets included to continue their feud but then that might be too many bodies in the one match.

Interestingly enough, Curtis Axel continues gaining a little momentum with his #Axelmania movement and once again challenged Rusev. It will be quite intriguing to see where this leads. Could we see a possible Rusev v Cena v Axel match for the US title at WrestleMania 31? Very unlikely, but still possible.

Further tension was teased between Miz and Mizdow and it will be interesting to see if they will be given a singles match at mania for their feud or instead just lumped into the battle royal. My prediction is that they might have a match on the pre-show which Sandow should win. Then they should both enter the battle royal and I would love to see Sandown win that as well. He deserves it.

Bray Wyatt cuts another promo on The Undertaker. Hopefully Taker finally responds in some way this coming Monday Night Raw.

The build to Wrestlemania 31 has been an interesting one thus far and the importance laced on The IC championship on Smackdown is definitely ‘best for business’.
