Braun Strowman returned but didn't compete at TLC
What's the story?
Braun Strowman returned at TLC and even won his match against Baron Corbin. However, he was still in a cast and didn't actually compete. According to WrestleVotes, WWE is being careful with Braun Strowman and it's likely that he's not going to compete until the Royal Rumble.

In case you didn't know...
Braun Strowman was written off TV after being victim to a 3-on-1 assault. He subsequently underwent elbow surgery and many wondered how it would be possible for him to compete at TLC.
True to their word, Strowman did show up. But he wore a cast and was clearly not medically cleared to compete. He won the match and now has a date with The Beast Incarnate Brock Lesnar at the Royal Rumble for the Universal Championship.
It will be his third singles attempt against Lesnar at the Championship after failing on two previous attempts (and two more attempts involving other superstars).
The heart of the matter
WrestleVotes had stated prior to the PPV that Strowman would not be competing and it turned out to be true. They're now reporting that Strowman still isn't medically cleared and will likely not be competing in the ring until the Royal Rumble.
It makes sense from WWE's perspective to protect Strowman. The following week's RAW (which has already been taped), gives a bit more insight into Strowman's injury status. If you want to see the update, click below (*WARNING: Contains spoilers for RAW next week*)

What's next?
Braun Strowman will begin the build to the Royal Rumble. It's likely that he'll be cleared by the beginning of the year, with WWE not taking any chances of him getting re-injured.
