Roman Reigns is set to face John Cena at SummerSlam 2021 with his Universal title on the line. The Tribal Chief has undoubtedly been the most dominant heel in WWE since his return last year. He transformed himself into one of the most intriguing characters in the entire pro wrestling business and won over many of his critics.
However, his momentum will take a massive hit if he loses the championship to John Cena. It seemed impossible that Reigns will drop the title until Ric Flair’s recent release. Now, WWE can have Cena win the Universal Championship at SummerSlam and make history with his 17th world title, surpassing Flair’s record.
We understand why the company might want to go down this road, but it won’t be their best decision at the moment unless they are planning a long rivalry between John Cena and Roman Reigns. It would be much better to have Reigns lose the title when Big E cashes in his Money in the Bank contract.
Not to forget, there could be looming threats from Seth Rollins and Finn Balor. Although the possibilities surrounding the Universal Championship are endless, WWE should avoid reactionary booking decisions.
