#3 It goes with Ziggler's ongoing storyline as well
As we saw during Goldberg's feud with Kofi Kingston, Ziggler is portrayed as a whiner. He is someone who's been around forever and has worked his way to get where he is, but he sees other undeserving Superstars getting the rub instead.
Goldberg is someone who did not pay his dues and was pushed right to the top, because of his imposing physique and the fact that he had a marketable persona ahead of others in WCW. He would run through the roster with others committed to make him look like a top tier superstar.
This loss will probably bleed into what Dolph Ziggler will be doing next on WWE TV. The fact that he got destroyed will be an important plot point in all likelihood.
Through what was essentially a squash, it is interesting that two men were able to advance their storylines.
