WWE SummerSlam predictions - Part 2

CM Punk vs Brock Lesnar

Continuing from WWE SummerSlam predictions – Part 1,

Brie Bella vs. Natalya - And here’s your DUD match for the evening. It’s a shame, too, as Nattie is one of the best, if not the best, female performers on the roster, and she’s stuck in a go nowhere feud with the Bella Twins thanks to the horribleness that is the Total Divas show.

The fact is, absolutely no one cares about the Bella Twins. They can’t work at all, and are horribly obnoxious in every way (listening to them talk is like nails on a chalkboard). The only reason they are back, is because they are dating John Cena and Daniel Bryan in real life.

New Champs in WWE! More RIGHT HERE

They otherwise have no reason whatsoever to be in WWE. Now, common sense would dictate that Nattie destroy Brie in this match, but as far as the Bellas being in WWE is concerned, common sense goes straight out the window, and Brie will likely pick up the victory.

Cody Rhodes vs. Damien Sandow - Hard to pick a winner in this one, as both men would make a lot of sense, given the overall feud. Sandow is “Mr. MITB”, which practically guarantees he’ll be the World Champion within a year.

As for Rhodes, WWE seem to be going full-force with his face turn, and there have been rumours of a championship run for him as well, possibly before the year is out.

With the way the feud has been built, it would make the most sense to have Sandow as the victor, as Rhodes has humiliated him at several points, including destroying the MITB briefcase.

However, given that Rhodes is just barely starting with his face turn, he could easily be the victor as well. Tough call, but I’m going the safe route and picking Sandow as the winner, but wouldn’t be surprised at all if I was wrong.

“The Best vs. The Beast”: CM Punk vs. Brock Lesnar - While the main event will no doubt be good, this could be the match of the night. Both Lesnar and Punk are white hot right now, and this feud has been built up extremely well, with Lesnar playing the monster bully and Punk playing the determined underdog who refuses to back down.

When you throw Paul Heyman into the mix, his presence only adds to the drama. Here, you have two of the best wrestlers in the world facing off for the very first time in what is definitely a dream match for many fans, and while Lesnar has come out looking the strongest thus far, Punk has never truly looked weak or out of place.

Much like Sandow/Rhodes, this match could believably go either way, and in this case, I think the winner depends on how long WWE wants this feud to go on.

Lesnar only has so many days left in the year he can be used, so it’s possible he’ll be gone after the PPV (at least for a bit). Regardless, WWE may keep this feud going in one way or another once Summerslam has come and gone. If they do, Lesnar will likely win, with Punk winning in a rematch, possibly at the next PPV.

If Lesnar is going away for a while, however, having Punk would make the most sense. Not only does he need the win more (and is also a full-time performer, which means a lot), but beating Lesnar would skyrocket him back into the title picture, and getting Punk back as a full-fledged main eventer does seem to be in the cards.

Curtis Axel could play a part in this match and possibly cost Punk, leading to a feud between them, but that seems like a longshot for the moment.
