Roman tossed Cena outside the ring at SummerSlam and into the steel steps before the referee threatened to count them out but was too afraid to actually do it. Roman knocked Cena's head into the steel steps before posing with the title.
Cena rolled him up in the ring, but Reigns kicked out before taking him down again. Cena had Reigns up for the AA, but The Tribal Chief countered into a DDT and got a near fall.
Cena went for another rollup before Reigns locked in a sleeper hold. Cena got out and hit a clothesline. Cena was caught in the Guillotine before taking a Superman Punch. Reigns went for the Spear but took a big boot and the Five Knuckle Shuffle.
Cena got the Attitude Adjustment, but Reigns kicked out! Reigns fled the ring before hitting a drive-by. Reigns went for a spear but Cena reversed it into an AA into the announce desk.
Reigns set up for the finish and got the Superman Punch back in the ring, but Cena dodged the Spear. Cena took Reigns up top and hit an AA from the second rope but Reigns still kicked out!
Cena took another Superman Punch before hitting the Spear and getting the pin! Roman Reigns retained his title against John Cena at SummerSlam!

Reigns was celebrating after the match when Brock Lesnar returned to WWE and walked out to the ring. Reigns was absolutely awestruck and just walked out of the ring as SummerSlam ended.
