WWE is all set to bring one of its big four pay-per-views with a bang on Sunday. Though it is incomparable to the history of the prestigious pay-per-view, this year’s match card still has potential headline makers. John Cena, Randy Orton and Big E Langston are all set to defend their titles in crunch matches while CM Punk and Daniel Bryan will be pitted against the creepy Wyatt Family. The traditional tag team bout wouldn’t disappoint either as it boasts an array of exciting talent. So here is a look at the match card and the possibilities that could highlight the show.
Kofi Kingston vs. The Miz
Former WWE writer buries Judgment Day HERE
The Miz will be on a mission to establish himself as a credible heel again after his not so surprising turn. And spending months wandering around the locker room without any aim is sure to make him deliver inside the ring at his best. Kofi Kingston in a match is guaranteed entertainment quotient and along with the exciting prospect of seeing a new faced Miz adds so much spark to the contest. The two also have a lot of history to boast about which includes being tag partners and opponents for Intercontinental title. WWE will be looking to build the momentum of Miz with a win and any result other than that would only be a paramount surprise of Survivor Series.
Curtis Axel vs. Big E. Langston (Intercontinental Championship)
On one side we have a guy who lost the Intercontinental championship, lost Paul Heyman and who was formerly known as Michael McGillicutty and on the other side we have Langston who has been gathering a great response from the fans ever since his babyface turn, that pretty much sums up the match. If Heyman couldn’t get Axel to the top of the ladder, then no one can. He seems destined to be buried at the moment while Langston has everything going for him. And no one would want to break Langston’s momentum as he is headed for a potential main event spot in the future. As far as Axel is concerned, he needs a big miracle to keep him relevant in the business.
AJ Lee, Tamina Snuka, Summer Rae, Kaitlyn, Rosa Mendes, Aksana and Alicia Fox vs. JoJo Offerman, Eva Marie, Natalya, The Funkadactlys and The Bellas (Elimination)
The female version of the traditional match will be looking to promote the Total divas show and the less exposed Eva and JoJo. That fact makes it a favorable for the Total Divas side despite AJ Lee being in the other team. Summer Rae is lined up for a big push but it doesn’t seem likely to happen at Survivor Series as she might have to move sideward for the sake of Eva and JoJo. AJ Lee looks certain to be the last woman standing from her team while Natalya could end up being the sole survivor which would make sense as she has been gaining victories of the Divas Champion. To sum up its just going to be an eye candy filler that will set the stage for something bigger.
Cody Rhodes, Goldust, Rey Mysterio and The Usos vs. The Shield and The Real Americans (Elimination)
Make no mistake about it; this match is going to be one of the show stealers of the night. The amount of talent in the ring itself makes it worth looking forward too. The Rhodes brothers have been fun to watch ever since they were rehired by Triple H and the excitement reaches a different level when they are teamed with the ever-energetic Usos and returning Rey Mysterio. The Shield and Real Americans will be interesting to watch as both Roman Reigns and Antonio Cesaro has been reportedly slated for a face turn, so the WWE would the two to stand out from the rest. Though Mysterio is almost older than the rest of the pack (excluding Goldust), the masked man still has a lot left him to make the Boston crowd go wild. The match promises many ups, downs and explosions which make it one which cannot be missed.
CM Punk and Daniel Bryan vs. Luke Harper and Erick Rowan
It’s a shame that the company made Bray Wyatt sit out for this one, but even without his in-ring presence the menacing psycho could prove costly for Bryan and Punk. Harper and Rowan will be projected as top stars in the match as they are fighting against the ‘real’ top stars of the company. The creepy guys are likely to lose the match but will give a lasting impression that is going to carry them for months to come. The result going otherwise would go down in the books as one of the best push strategy in the recent times and the feud being continued for some more time, which would be actually a good thing for business. Ever since their debut, the Wyatts has established themselves as one of the most exciting gimmick that the creative team has produced in the PG Era and they have held the audience captive every time they come down to the ring. So giving them one over Punk and Bryan won’t hurt any bit as it will be a part of building a future for the company.
John Cena vs. Alberto Del Rio (World Heavyweight Championship)
Hopefully, this is going to be the end of Del Rio- Cena feud which managed to evoke minimal emotions. Cena is going to be backed by his home crowd when Del Rio will be looking to work on Cena’s arm. Del Rio will be plotting his match plans revolving the arm with Cena being the resistive one trying to hold off the attacks. However, the Mexican stands no chance of retaining his title as the WWE would want Cena to hold the title till a superstar with more fire power comes into the scene. They will also be looking to take ADR out of the title scene or TV for some time and bring back him during the WrestleMania period as a fresh contender. It would also be interesting if this match would be a catalyst for Cena’s next feud, if it isn’t then there won’t be much to look forward on this one.
Randy Orton vs. Big Show (WWE Championship)
Orton has been overridden badly by all the other characters in the Authority storyline and Big Show comes into the pay-per-view with a lot of momentum, though this might not sound that exciting on the cards, keeping in mind the history of Orton and Big Show, the match could end up as a surprise entertainer which will be much needed to break the pay-per-view jinx of WWE. Triple H promised that there won’t be any outside interference for the match but that seems impossible to materialize as no interference would make this a plain old traditional match without much point in fighting. Frankly, this is the most unpredictable matches in the match card and could swing either ways. There are also rumors suggesting a Roman Reigns interaction that could turn him face, something like that would only be a cherry on the top to the twist and turns that is going to be the trademark of this match.
