This week’s episode of RAW wasn’t quite as exciting as the past few editions of the show, and as we get closer to SummerSlam, the card looks star studded. Even though performers like Rob Van Dam don’t have a feud set in stone, it can be done within the next couple of weeks. This week’s show was star studded as well, with the likes of Bryan, Cena, Axel and Christian being involved in matches. So what were the few talking points coming out of this week’s episode? Let’s find out.
5. Punk makes his intentions clear
This week on RAW, Paul Heyman’s client Curtis Axel faced R-Truth in a non-title match, but before they could get their offenses in, CM Punk ran down and attacked Curtis Axel, and tried to get his hands on his former mentor and friend, Paul Heyman.
New Champs in WWE! More RIGHT HERE
While Heyman escaped thanks to Axel’s interference, Punk took out his frustrations on Axel, dropping him with a huge clothesline and setting his sights on Paul Heyman. With SummerSlam getting closer, the Second City Saint would look to get his retribution against Heyman and Brock Lesnar. Things are heating up as we now get ready for the biggest party of the summer – SummerSlam.
4. Dolph Ziggler gets even with Big E Langston
This week, Ziggler challenged Big E to a match after AJ Lee lost her bout with Kaitlyn. With Big E accepting the challenge, the two locked horns before SummerSlam, but before anything could happen, AJ attacked Ziggler, causing a disqualification. With Ziggler escaping Big E’s wrath, Big E asked AJ why she did that, and before he could get any answers, Ziggler attacked Big E and dropped him with a Zig Zag from behind, thus settling his score with Big E for dropping him with the Big Ending couple of weeks ago on RAW. With the love triangle now being evident, how will things unfold come SummerSlam? We have to wait and find out.
3. Wyatt Family attacks Kane once again
This week also marked the return of Kane after being brutalized by the Wyatt Family couple of weeks ago on RAW. Kane took on his former partner and friend, Daniel Bryan and although he lost the match, he delivered a chokeslam to Bryan. But before anything else happened, the Wyatt Family came down to the ring and attacked Kane once again. Bray spiked Kane with a DDT, and cut a promo afterwards, saying Kane wasn’t the Devil’s favourite demon, and that he should be careful while saying such things. This will probably lead to Bray Wyatt’s debut match on the main roster at SummerSlam against Kane. I’m excited about all the things WWE can do with the Wyatt Family, as they bring a breath of fresh air in the WWE.
2. Christian defeats the World Heavyweight champion
Captain Charisma faced Alberto Del Rio in a non-title match this week, and defeated the World Heavyweight champion. Christian will face del Rio at SummerSlam for the World Heavyweight championship, and although it’s highly improbable for Christian to win the title from del Rio, it would be a great chance for Christian to prove his mettle to the WWE management.
Christian is one of the best workers in the WWE, and putting the title on him will validate his career and his accomplishments in the company.
1. Daniel Bryan stands up to Vince McMahon
This week’s RAW opened with Maddox and Vince, and before they could vilify Bryan, he came out and held his ground. Vince said Bryan wasn’t a championship material, and that Cena was merely playing a bad joke when he selected Daniel Bryan as his opponent for SummerSlam.
With WWE now taking the same route as they did with Stone Cold Steve Austin back in ’98, things can get very interesting in the WWE. Daniel Bryan is universally loved, and it will be interesting to see what WWE does going forward with the Daniel Bryan – John Cena feud.
