The Irish superstar Sheamus won the battle Royal on Monday night Raw, this past week. This was a particularly important moment for Sheamus who was more or less directionless for the major part of 2014. Sheamus has United States Championship, but for staying relevant in the talented roster of WWE, he would need some very competitive and compelling opponents.Whether Sheamus can find them and as to how much relevant he would be, remains to be seen. Here we speculate on top five possible opponents who should put up a good fight for the United states championship.
#5 Alexander Rusev
Rusev and Lana have raised havoc on their way since debut. Each and every opponent, whom Rusev faced, has been beaten. He is developing in his character as a hated heel. Rusev can next face one of the two secondary champions: Wade Barrett or Sheamus. Sheamus and Rusev can put up some very good matches, both having some amazing feats of strengths.
Rusev and Sheamus are both very athletic for superstars who have big sizes. Lana can add another dimension to this feud with her charisma and mic work.
#4 Dolph Ziggler
Dolph Ziggler is probably one of the most popular athletes on the roster. He has been the darling of the fans for quite some while. His in ring style is exemplary and he sells all his opponent's moves with some talent. He has charisma as well.
All of this can point to the fact that Ziggler needs and deserves a good push with one of the titles. Seeing him fight the Irish fella, would be very tempting. It remains to be seen, if he would get the push though.
#3 Dean Ambrose
The former United States Champion, Dean Ambrose, finds himself on the third spot of this list. While he may be the immediate rival for the title, it would be hard to see Ambrose getting back the title which he had for almost a year. And hardly defended the same.
However, that said, Dean would be very good as the opponent for Sheamus. His mic work is superb and he can hold his own in the ring. He is a brawler and loves a good fight. This he shares with Sheamus.
#2 Seth Rollins
The Architect of the Shield and the best performer of the Shield in the ring- by a mile- Seth Rollins may also be a good opponent for Sheamus. While in storyline he can be portrayed as taking revenge for Ambrose or stray towards a breakup of the group. The first NXT Champion, Seth has all the credentials to go solo, or to stake his claims for the United States Championship.
Seth has put up some very good matches with most of the roster and it would not be of much surprise if Seth and Sheamus put up some brilliant matches in a feud.
#1 Roman Reigns
The big Samoan, the second generation star and the next big thing of the WWE, Roman Reigns remains the best upcoming superstar for the WWE. He is yet to establish himself as the singles superstar which WWE want him to be. To cement himself, a feud with Sheamus for a top title like the United States Championship might be the very thing which helps Reigns to set himself up for main event status.
