WWE's top 5 performers of the week

Another week has gone by and we have seen the last of Smackdown but the last of raw is still left as the last episode for this year will air in the coming week on the 29th of December.This week saw Ambrose and Wyatt main eventing Raw in a match that they’ve competed in previously, Seth Rollins seems to have lost a bit of momentum given his losses and all in all it was a bit of lacklustre week as far as fresh and exciting content goes.But there is always a silver lining. Here are the top 5 performers of the week.

#5 Rusev

No other heel is as over as Rusev is right now. Don’t get me wrong, Rollins and Wyatt are doing a good job but Rusev has hitthe bull’s eye with the oft-repeated foreign heel gimmick.Lana and Rusev are booed everywhere they go. That’s why this feud with Ryback seems special as both these guys have been protected a lot by the management.

He was on Piper’s Pit and had a run-in against Hogan on Smackdown. Also, there was this funny WWE video about who the WWE superstars are going to kiss when the clock hits midnight on the 31st December. Rusev’s part was arguably the funniest. Lana says “Americans will kiss Rusev’s feet”

Quite a week for the Bulgarian Brute.

#4 Luke Harper

Luke Harper has wrestled three awesome matches in a span of two weeks. Two against Ziggler and one against Jack Swagger.

While there are the likes of Ambrose, Ziggler, Rollins, Reigns and Bray Wyatt who are all having the spotlight, Harper is carving his own style in a steady fashion. He is one of the best wrestlers to watch out for given the moves he executes for a man of his build.

It remains to be seen, though, what Luke harper will be upto next.

#3 Charlotte

Sasha Banks deserves the honourable mention. Charlotte is to NXT what Paige was to NXT. She is not only the most over female performer, but she is one of the talked about performers in NXT.

She has carved her own niche despite clinging on to being The Nature Boy’s daughter. Sasha Banks and Charlotte carried Nxt with another spectacular match which turned out to be better than their previous match at Takeover. Their match was enough to make NXT the best show of the week.

#2 Dean Ambrose

Sure, he lost another main event. But Ambrose’s appeal is not dependednt on him losing matches. It’s the way he plays his character. It’s all about the drama, the theatricality. His Hoodie is one of the biggest selling merchandise for the company recently and on top of that one should listen to him on the Jericho podcast.

It gives some major insight into what goes around, or the making of, the Lunatic Fringe. Repetition makes the special moments seem even more special. So even if he’s on stagnant mode right now, whenever he does something different, it will create a lot of buzz.

#1 Dolph Ziggler

It is hard to believe yet not shocking at all atthe same time. Many months ago, if you thought that there was a strong chance of Ziggler winning the Rumble or becoming one of the greatest Intercontinental Champion, or earning clean victories in spectacular matches- you would have been laughed at.

Or at least, you had a strong chance of being proven wrong. But in all aspects, Ziggler is the biggest babyface in the company right now. He is humble yet shows off. He is cheered unanimously.

This week he got a major shout out from Hulk Hogan on Smackdown as he called Ziggler the future of the company. And on Raw, he fought another spectacular match against Luke Harper and defended his title successfully.

He was declared Rolling Stone’s Wrestler of The year. That’s some mainstream coverage. He is arguably the biggest star this week.
