If the WWE fans had a chance to bring back a retired wrestler for one last match, one name which will be on top of the list is Shawn Michaels. The heart break kid stole hearts all over the world throughout his career and gave the fans some great matches and storylines. With so much to celebrate in his career, it is not easy to pick up some great feuds. However, since weve already looked into some the top storylines of legends like Undertaker and Triple H, here is an attempt to do the same with Shawn Michaels who belongs to the same class as the other two.
#5 Coming out of retirement against Chris Jericho- 2008
Shawn Michaels ended his long feud with Batista and was attending Chris Jerichos high light reel when Jericho decided to attack Michaels.
And Michaels had a detached retina according to the storyline and a match between Jericho and Michaels was scheduled. Jericho ended up winning the match after Jericho attacked Michaels eyes causing a stoppage.
Michaels came out and said that he is retiring due to the injury. Jericho however wasnt done with him and attacked Michaels wife to lure him into another match.
It worked and Michaels now had some score to settle which he did while working through a legitimate injury.
#4 The title conflict against Razor Ramon 1994
It was the time when the Intercontinental title had high regard in the company. Michaels was the reigning champion and his cocky gimmick was over with the fans which aided his rise.
However, Michaels was told to vacate the title because he hadnt defended it often but actually it was due to him being suspended due to steroid use. When Michaels returned, Razor Ramon was crowned the new champion.
Michaels claimed that he was never pinned or submitted and the title belonged to him. He also brought out the old title while Ramon was holding the real one.
Thus to end the two title conflict, the WWE decided to let both the title hang from the roof and let the men battle out in a ladder match which turned out to be the bench mark for every ladder match which followed.
#3 I lost my smile against Bret Hart- 1997
The off screen heat that Michaels had with Bret the Hitman Hart was morphed into a good storyline by the WWE. The two men were seen hating eachother to all limits and had an iron man match at WrestleMania which went out of time limit.
It didnt end there as Michaels came out and said that he was retiring because he lost his smile. However, many believe that the real reason behind this as his unwillingness to let Bret Hart in the math against him.
The two would go out and insult eachother off television and had a lot of friction brewing between them. And once Michaels returned to action, he went straight at Hart and reestablished their feud.
The angle ended in the most controversial fashion possible after Vince McMahon decided to screw Bret Hart legitimately at Montreal.
#2 Career vs. Streak against Undertaker- 2010
After his first match with Undertaker which ended in Michaels losing, the Heart break kid was desperate to get a second chance.
However, Taker was not at all interested in doing that and rejected the initial offer that Michaels made. Michael then had to pursue Taker with all he got and finally put his career on the line to lure Taker into the match.
Taker finally accepted the match and WrestleMania had a crowd puller in the form of Taker vs. Michaels with both the streak and the career on the line.
The two delivered a great match which proved to be the final match of Shawn Michaels who hasnt wore his boots for four years.
#1 Who is the best, against Triple H- 2002
The friendship between Michaels and Hunter is famous among the WWE fans and the company decided to make use of it in a storyline which ended up being a great one.
It started when Triple H backstabbed Michaels after teasing a reunion of the D Generation X. the two then had a lot of exchanged with eachother.
The two had some great matches over the title including a three stages of hell match and the first ever elimination match.
The primary aim of all these matches was to find out who the best man from the two was and both wrestlers were willing to go to all the limits possible to know that.
