The 2017 WWE Hall of Fame ceremony is what everyone is talking about. Just like the years that went by, this year’s Hall of Fame ceremony gave the fans some great moments to cherish. Fortunately or unfortunately, the emotions revolving around the HOF ceremony is all set to be swept away by WrestleMania.
WWE has a stacked card to showcase for the pay-per-view and unsurprisingly, the rumour mill had huge discussions about the shows.
WWE’s booking plans for Sunday night, the storylines for the post-WrestleMania period and more were among the topics discussed on the internet this past week. In this list, we will be taking a look at the major rumours that broke out as part of these discussions.
#5 Seth Rollins to feud with Samoa Joe
The rumour: According to Cageside Seats, Seth Rollins will feud with Samoa Joe after his WrestleMania showdown with Triple H.
The potential: Samoa Joe is someone that it closely associated with the Rollins – Triple H feud. It was Joe that injured Rollins in the first place. WWE left a door open for the Rollins – Joe feud at that particular point itself and once the Architect is done with the Game, it makes sense for him to go and settle his scores with Joe.
To conclude, this is a rumour that has high chances of materialising.
The fallout: A storyline involving Joe and Rollins is unlikely to evoke negative reactions from the fans. With their ability to produce great matches, Rollins and Joe could steal the show in a multi-pay-per-view storyline. Furthermore, Rollins concentrating on Joe allows Triple H to move into another storyline.
#4 Harper and Rowan to interfere in WWE title match
The rumour: Erick Rowan and Luke Harper are likely to get involved in the WWE Championship match between Randy Orton and Bray Wyatt at WrestleMania 33, according to Cageside Seats.
The potential: The Bray Wyatt – Randy Orton feud has been one of the best storylines on SmackDown. With WrestleMania being the Ultimate Thrill Ride, however, one would presume that WWE would want to take this feud to the next level.
Involving Luke Harper and Erick Rowan could do just that.
The drama quotient goes up and Orton’s babyface prowess can be explored further by stacking the odds against him. Harper joining hands with Bray amidst the interference can act as a swerve as well.
The Fallout: Bray Wyatt was and is still a perfect cult leader. Now that he is a Champion, he needs backup more than ever. The reunion of the Wyatt family will make Bray a strong Champion going into the post-WrestleMania period.
#3 Winner of Andre The Giant Memorial Battle Royal
The rumour: Rumours on Cageside Seats suggests that Braun Strowman will most likely win this year’s Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal.
The potential: Braun Strowman was booked as an unbeatable monster leading up to WWE’s Fastlane. He seemed undefeatable at that point of time and then things turned around when he met Roman Reigns. WWE soon sacrificed Strowman to push the Reigns – Undertaker storyline, and he is now in desperate need of a comeback.
Winning the battle royal works perfectly for Strowman. The work rate for the match is low due to its nature and having Strowman win the match will allow the WWE to bring him back on track without exposing his weaknesses.
The Fallout: A feud with Roman Reigns is what Strowman needs after ‘Mania. Lose or win, he needs to take care of unfinished business before he moves onto something new.
#2 Update on Nikki Bella
The rumour: It seems like Nikki Bella will not be taking time off after WrestleMania as she is advertised for shows beyond the pay-per-view. Cageside Seats also reports that we could see John Cena propose Nikki Bella at the event.
Also read: Brie Bella says John Cena will not propose to Nikki Bella at WrestleMania
The potential: It would be a big surprise if Nikki does not take a break after WrestleMania as she has suffered several serious injuries. She could be there for the shows in a non-wrestling role but working in full capacity would be catastrophic for the former Divas Champion.
As far as the proposal rumour is concerned, it could go either way. It depends on what John Cena wants. From what we see on Total Divas and Total Bellas, Nikki would love to have such a moment at WrestleMania.
The Fallout: Nikki taking time off will not be a major concern for the SmackDown Women’s division. WWE has enough talent in the division to put on a show. Alternatively, if Nikki does not take a break; it’s a good situation for the WWE as they would have a marketable name on the active roster.
Coming to the proposal segment, Cena proposing to Nikki would mean big money for WWE. The whole Cena – Nikki marriage and engagement would attract ratings for SmackDown, Total Bellas and Total Divas and WWE will probably be pushing to make this segment happen. But then again, it depends on what the Cenation leader wants.
#1 Undertaker in pain
The rumour: PWInsider noted that WWE is concerned about the health of Undertaker as he is walking around in a great deal of pain. There is also a talk about WrestleMania 33 being ‘Taker’s last WrestleMania outing.
The Potential: Every year, when WrestleMania comes around, people claims that it will be Undertaker’s last WrestleMania. If we think about it, the term ‘Undertaker’s Last WrestleMania’ equals money as far as the WWE is concerned.
The Fallout: Undertaker has been struggling with health issues for a long time. But whenever we write him off, just like a phoenix, he rises again and gives us matches to cherish. This could be the case at WrestleMania 33 as well. He could take time off after the show, undergo surgery and return in time for next WrestleMania.
