Roadblock delivered plenty of talking points. The Iron-Man match between Sasha Banks and Charlotte, Neville making his entry into the WWE Cruiserweight division, Sami Zayn surviving against Braun Strowman and of course, the biggest of them all, the controversial way in which the main event ended.
A good portion of the speculation from the rumour mill concentrated on the show that happened on Sunday night. But there were some interesting rumours which focused elsewhere. Now that Roadblock is in the books, we are going to filter out the rumours about Roadblock and take a closer look at the ones that did not talk about the show.
New Champs in WWE! More RIGHT HERE
#5 Reigns vs. Strowman in the build
Braun Strowman suffered a defeat to Sami Zayn at Roadblock via time limit rules. It was a good idea from WWE to keep both Strowman and Zayn protected. With the feud apparently over, Strowman would need something new to be invested in.
While the immediate storyline for Strowman could be revealed in the upcoming episodes of Raw, the WrestleMania plans for him could be set. Rumours reported by theinscribermag.com suggest that WWE plans to make Strowman face Reigns for the United States title at WrestleMania.
As Reigns and Strowman are two of the most strongly booked Superstars on the roster, a collision could make the fans interested.
#4 Randy Orton to turn on Wyatt Family
The association between Randy Orton and Wyatt Family has been a successful one so far. The addition of Orton into the team gave the Wyatts a new direction, and they went on to win the Tag team championships as well. Things might be looking good, but if we go by the rumours reported by en.yibada.com the association might not last long.
There is already a speculation about Orton turning on his new teammates and considering the cold treatment that the relationship has been getting, it might not be a big surprise if it happens. If WWE is indeed going for a breakup, Royal Rumble would be a perfect platform as it is every man for himself.
3: Finn Balor rumoured to win Royal Rumble
Finn Balor’s injury was one of the biggest disappointments of this year. Balor had quickly reached the top after making his main roster debut and even went on to win the WWE Universal Championship. Unfortunately, the injury had kept him away for a long time and rumours suggest that he could make a strong re-entry by winning the Royal Rumble.
Earlier, rumour had it that Balor would not be fit to compete at the Rumble, but a report from en.yibada.com conflicts the claim and says that he could go on to win. If this is the case, then Balor would go on to headline WrestleMania, and such a win could also put him back into the title picture
#2 WWE looking to bring in TNA star
For years, TNA has been criticised for roping in talent from WWE rather than creating their own. The table has apparently flipped for the time being as rumours reported by 411 mania.com suggest that WWE could be interested in signing TNA superstar Eli Drake.
Drake was previously signed to WWE in a developmental deal and had also worked in NXT before being released.
After leaving WWE, he has made some huge strides in the business and impressed a lot of fans with his performance in TNA. Elsewhere, rumours suggest that Chris Hero has completed his medical with WWE and could make his return sooner rather than later.
#1 Cena to chase the WWE Championship
After a long hiatus, John Cena is all set to make his return to WWE programming. No matter how polarising he is, Cena is hands down one of the biggest draws that WWE has in their arsenal right now, and none of the new generation Superstars could come near the mainstream appeal that Cena has.
And this is why his return is so important to WWE. Rumours from www.cagesideseats.com suggest that Cena would be heading right into the WWE Championship scene once he makes his return. The speculation is interesting because this past week, WWE crowned Dolph Ziggler as the new Number one contender.
So a three-way storyline could well be in the works.
It should also be noted that Cena is chasing the record of Ric Flair, making it ideal for him to feud for the WWE Championship once he returns.
