WWE will be edging one step closer to wrapping up 2016 this Sunday night. The Hell in a Cell pay-per-view is all set to deliver the goods and with three Hell in a Cell matches on the card, it has managed to capture the attention of the entire WWE Universe.
While building up to Hell in a Cell and discussions about the pay-per-view were the major focus points this past week in the wrestling community, there were some other rumors as well.
And as always, we are going to list down the top rumors of this past week and take a look at how this could impact the WWE product as a whole.
New Champs in WWE! More RIGHT HERE
#5 Brock Lesnar vs. Sami Zayn to happen at WWE Live event
Brock Lesnar is scheduled to appear for WWE’s live event on December 3rd in Mexico. The appearance will happen days after his showdown with Goldberg at Survivor Series.
Rumors are suggesting that Lesnar will be facing off against Sami Zayn at the live event. The last time Lesnar appeared at a similar live event, he had a showdown with Randy Orton and it didn’t go well for the Viper.
With Zayn having no clear direction ahead of Survivor Series, it would be interesting to see what WWE is planning to do with him. And as we know, Zayn has a lot of history in Mexico thanks to his El Generico gimmick.
#4 WWE and FloSlam
The launch of FloSlam was one of the major talking points of this past week. Launched as an online platform for streaming independent wrestling events, the FloSlam has apparently left the WWE officials unhappy. WWE had earlier invested in FloSlam but they are currently a silent partner and they had no say in the launch of the service.
Also, though WWE was doing their research on which independent promotions the fans would love to see, this research was not taken into consideration for FloSlam. There is a fear within the WWE backstage people that the price of Indy content will be increased due to this.
#3 Orton joining the Wyatt Family
Randy Orton surprised everyone last week on SmackDown when he turned on Kane. Rumors started surfacing about Orton possibly joining the Wyatt Family but from the looks of it, he won’t be doing the same.
Instead, a heel run is currently being planned for the Viper but that does not mean he will be part of the Wyatt family.
Also, Orton is expected to skip Survivor Series as his wife is about give birth. He is not expected to miss television during early November, where WWE is expected to give his heel run a push.
The exact plans for Orton’s heel run are not known but he could be in the main event scene.
#2 Hideo Itami, Austin Aries and Finn Balor update
Hideo Itami, who was injured recently, is expected to return as early as December. His current injury is apparently not as serious as his last one. Meanwhile, Austin Aries, who suffered a ban injury to his face thanks to Shinsuke Nakamura’s kick, will be kept out of the NXT Tapings until his face is back in normal condition.
Apart from swelling and the wound, there aren’t any other serious problems.
Finn Balor, who is another injured name on the WWE roster, could be back in time for WrestleMania. WWE still has some big plans for his return and if WrestleMania could indeed be the platform, then Finn could have his big WrestleMania moment next year itself.
#1 Hell in a Cell rumor roundup
As mentioned earlier, Hell in a Cell happens this Sunday night and there are a string of rumors making the rounds about the show. The most interesting one was perhaps the addition of Chris Jericho. Jericho could be added as a special guest referee in the last minute as he does not have a place on the card.
Also, there are talks about WWE not deciding which match will go last. Vince McMahon apparently does not want the Women to go last and this is causing confusion all around. Lastly, Sami Zayn vs. Braun Strowman could be a last minute addition to the card.
