In a recent interview with DoubleGSports.com, TNA superstar Velvet Sky opened up on a range of topics including barriers for women in wrestling, her opponent, her future with TNA, and more. On the topic of obstacles for women in wrestling, Sky spoke rather positively and stated that women have certainly left their mark in the sport.
She went on to say that more and more women are carving a niche for themselves in a sport that was once dominated by males, and are earning respect for that achievement.
According to Sky, times have changed since women’s matches were given lower billing and from the time females were confined to being just valets and managers for the male stars. Seeing women treated as equals in wrestling is something the wrestler is grateful for, while confessing that she was super excited to be a woman in the fast changing world of wrestling.

On the question of her dream opponent, Sky has just one name on her mind and that is Amy Dumas aka Lita. Sky admits to watching the WWE Hall of Famer and four-time WWE Women’s Champion live when she just debuted, and really looked up to her when she was establishing her own footing in the wrestling business.
According to Sky, Lita boasted of all the right ingredients that made a top class woman wrestler, which won her admiration from men and women alike. Lita’s unique style helped seal Sky’s fate as a wrestler.
A pairing with Lita is certainly something Sky desires, as well as the wish of pairing alongside her to face Angelina Love and Trish Stratus or facing off against her and Trish – which will be Team Bestie – with Angelina as part of The Beautiful People.
When asked about her future, Sky said, “The future is definitely wide open for me. I work hard every day to improve myself. I’m going to keep going forward in the professional wrestling industry. I am currently enrolled in school as well and working towards my degree. Velvet Sky is just going to keep on going strong every single day.”
Sky, who is currently in a relationship with Bubba Ray Dudley of the legendary tag team The Dudley Boyz, has won her fair share of plaudits in TNA in the form of one TNA Knockouts Tag Team Championship and two TNA Women’s Knockout Championships.
