Fans of the pro wrestling indy circuit will recognize the name ‘Joey Ryan’. The man who founded Pro Wrestling Guerilla is infamous for his ‘Super P***s’ match in Japanese promotion Dramatic Dream Team.
Ryan has wrestled across multiple promotions like PWG, TNA, WWE, ROH, NWA and WSX and if there’s one big observation, it’s that he’s out of the mold. A recent match of his fit the bill perfectly.

At Finest City Wrestling in San Diego, California, Ryan was in an intergender match with his real-life girlfriend, Laura James. At one point during the match, the ref gets taken out and what followed blew the roof off.
Ryan rummaged around in a bag under one of the turnbuckles and to everyone’s astonishment, got down on one knee! Saying that this was the only way he could surprise James, Ryan popped the question. Here’s the video:
After the momentous ‘Yes’ and the embrace that followed, Ryan went one to roll-up his lady love into a small package and get the pinfall for the win. If kayfabe were a person, tears of joy would be rolling down his/her cheeks.
