Why Seth Rollins has been unstoppable this year?

Seth Rollins had a great year

In the past 4 days, WWE has aired TLC, Raw, Smackdown and Main Event. And there were some superstars who worked during all these shows.

Out of all of them TLC, Raw and Smackdown were Live. TLC had some good moments but the bad overpowered the good and then WWE followed up with an episode of Raw which wasn’t even average at best, though it was capped off by one very god match. This show had all the potential in the world with the kind of talent and history involved but it faltered and couldn’t really hang in there for the time allotted to it. Like, the interaction between Heyman and Jericho were fun until Cena came along. And then, Jericho and the perennial face of the company began taking jibes with some not so funny ‘jokes’. And then there was this match set later for the night between Jericho and wait, drumroll, Paul Heyman. It was anybody’s guess that Lesnar was out there on the prowl.

And then finally, we had Smackdown which was the only redemption WWE has had this week. It was a short, crisp and significant showcase of all the storylines that have developed or are continuing.

It furthered the feud between Ryback and Rusev, it hyped things up for Raw, it continued the enthralling feud between Bray Wyatt and Dean Ambrose and then it ended the night with a brilliant match between The Show Off and Mr. Money In The Bank.

On A Roll

It is important to note that the only redeeming factor about was the main event between Rollins and Cena and the brief but effective Brock Lesnar appearance. Rollins won that match and was hoisted like a king over the shoulders of Jamie Noble and Joey Mercury. That victory meant a lot as it came after a hellacious tables match between the two a night before at TLC where Reigns made his return to save the victory for Cena.

One thing happens to be common in all three programs - the one being Seth Rollins.

There was next to no excitement surrounding the feud between Cena and the 28year old. It seemed like and was in fact a filler for the upcoming match between the leader of the Cenation and the Beast Incarnate.

Rollins, in the books of some hardcore fans, was set for a grand burial at the hands of Cena- the likes of which has been experienced by Bray Wyatt and Damien Sandow.

But, on the other hand, he came out looking like an unstoppable force to be reckoned with.

He competed in three matches, three nights in a row. He had a strong showing in all three of them. There have been many stars this week with Ambrose and Wyatt main event-ing the final PPV of the year, Roman Reigns has returned, Rusev is on a roll and Ziggler has had a renewed push in the past few months. Yet Rollins stands out on his own because of his wrestling.

Been there and done that

This isn’t the first time that he’s been putting quality matches after putting his body through some hellacious circumstances. Just after his much lauded performance in the main event of Hell In A cell against Dean Ambrose, he faced John Cena in the main event of Raw. And again, he gave a great performance. Not only did he hang in there with the biggest star of the company, he seemed to be fighting that match without really much recovering from the offence that he underwent 24 hours before.

So, it isn’t really uncharacteristic to expect Rollins to do the same again and again. It was the same when he was part of the Shield. That quality has been accentuated now that he is a singles performer.

It is great that his momentum is still the same and he’ll probably end the year being the real superstar of the year.
