Stipulation for the Shane McMahon – The Undertaker encounter
While the odds are that Shane McMahon will walk out of WrestleMania as the winner, forcing The Undertaker to announce his retirement (a well deserved one) on RAW the next night, WWE has made the fans scratch their heads with the way they’ve booked this match. Shane and The Undertaker are fan favorites, and WWE didn’t even take the time to explain most of the intricacies involved in the storyline (What is inside Shane’s “lock box”? Why did The Undertaker accept the match, especially when he hates Vince’s guts?)
With the recent stipulation essentially making it a “career vs. career” match – Shane’s career in WWE and ‘Taker’s career in WWE on the line, there’s almost a sense of confusion among the WWE Universe. While WWE has booked a heel versus heel and face versus face match before, with the high stakes involved, and the fact that the fans don’t want to see either star losing, there is more confusion than intrigue.
At the end of the day, the fans won’t be happy with either man losing. Shane losing would mean that the promise WWE showed going into WrestleMania would constitute to nothing. The Undertaker losing at WrestleMania – which was unfathomable till two years ago, would mean that he will call it a day. In the end, this is one match that will leave the fans split almost in half, and not in a good way.
