WWE WrestleMania 33: 5 Superstars with the most to gain

Austin Aries will vie for the WWE Cruiserweight Championship at WrestleMania 33.

As the ultimate proving ground for every athlete, WrestleMania is where legacies are created, and stars are solidified. This year's instalment appears to be no different with more than a handful of fresh faces in action up and down the card.

With a surplus of matches taking place, there will be plenty of opportunities for up-and-comers to cement their spot on the card. A breakout performance at WrestleMania will go a long way in establishing a Superstar at the top of the card.

Regardless of whether they are challenging for a championship, defending gold, or simply embroiled in a fierce rivalry, these are the five individuals with the most to gain at WrestleMania 33.

#5 The Miz

Can The Miz and Maryse back up their recent claims against John Cena and Nikki Bella?

While The Miz may not exactly be new to the roster, he has benefited from the Brand Split more than just about anyone else. And for the first time in six years, he will be involved in a pretty important match at WrestleMania 33 when he teams up with Maryse against John Cena and Nikki Bella.

It is all but confirmed that Cena will be proposing to Nikki afterwards, but that doesn't necessarily mean that Miz and Maryse will lose. If anything, they can win the match, maintain momentum, and Cena and Nikki can still have their moment, regardless.

At the very least, Miz should not go back to being directionless on SmackDown LIVE once this rivalry runs its course. A win at WrestleMania could put him in the WWE Championship conversation in the spring season.

#4 Austin Aries

Austin Aries will be making his WrestleMania debut this year.

Similar to The Miz, Austin Aries is a fairly established star in the wrestling world, but he has yet to make an impact in WWE. He has only recently arrived on the main roster and has quickly become one of the biggest stars the Cruiserweight division has to offer.

At WrestleMania 33, Aries will challenge Neville for the WWE Cruiserweight Championship. Despite being placed on the Kickoff show, there's a good chance they will contest the best bout of the night, and what could make it even more memorable is if the title changes hands.

If anyone can dethrone the King of the Cruiserweights, it's Aries. And he will back up everything he has been saying about himself since returning to the ring. He could do wonders for the division as its champion before hopefully moving on to bigger and better things on Raw and SmackDown LIVE, but it begins with winning the strap at WrestleMania.

#3 Alexa Bliss

Alexa Bliss will have the odds stacked against her at WrestleMania 33.

It's strange to say that Alexa Bliss has anything to gain at WrestleMania 33 considering she will be walking in as SmackDown Women's champion, but walking out with that title will be the impressive part. She will have her work cut out for her in a Six-Pack Challenge featuring Mickie James, Becky Lynch, Carmella, Natalya and Naomi.

Naomi previously beat Bliss for the belt at Elimination Chamber before suffering an injury that forced her to vacate it. Her returning to the ring in her hometown of Orlando and regaining the gold is pretty predictable, though it makes sense and would be a cool moment.

That said, Bliss retaining the title might be an even better decision, since it would establish her as more than a paper champion. Besides, she has been the best thing going on the blue brand for months, and she deserves to come out on top in her WrestleMania debut.

#2 Enzo Amore and Big Cass

Are Enzo Amore and Big Cass on the verge of becoming Raw Tag Team champions?

Enzo Amore and Big Cass will also be making their premiere appearances at WrestleMania this Sunday, and they will be challenging for a championship and not defending one. They have had their sights set on the Raw Tag Team Championship for months, a title that has alluded them since their arrival on the roster.

Thus, what better stage for them to finally fulfil their destiny by becoming champions than at WrestleMania? They are far and away the most over act of any tag team in WWE at the moment and the time has come for officials to pull the trigger on the title change for them.

If they fall short at WrestleMania, where do they go from there? They have contended for the twin titles countless times and have fallen short of victory on each occasion, so this could be their last chance at the belts, and therefore they must reign supreme with the titles in tow.

#1 Baron Corbin

Baron Corbin is determined to walk out of WrestleMania 33 the new Intercontinental champion.

Exactly one year ago at WrestleMania 32, Baron Corbin made a surprise appearance in the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal and ultimately emerged victorious. Since then, he has carved a path of destruction on SmackDown LIVE and has beaten everyone who has opposed him.

He has had Dean Ambrose's number as of late as well, but what he really wants is the Intercontinental Championship. While he isn't exactly a workhorse, Corbin can bring back a tonne of importance to that title simply by holding it and remaining as dominant as he has been.

Ambrose has nothing to lose in their upcoming encounter, and if nothing else, he would be better off in chase mode. Corbin capturing the Intercontinental Championship at WrestleMania would make him more of a force to be reckoned with than he already is.
