Kurt Angle vs Baron Corbin (Kurt Angle's Farewell Match)
Kurt Angle's storied in-ring wrestling career will come to an end at WrestleMania 35. The WWE Hall of Famer has been on a tear as of late with a winning streak that has hearkened back to the days when Angle regularly dominated the professional wrestling landscape. At 50 years old, Angle is ready to hang up his boots and wants to do so on his terms. Only Baron Corbin stands in his way.
In a battle of former RAW GMs, Corbin would love to play the role of spoiler and live off the fame that would come with ending Angle's wrestling career. Corbin has also been on a rebound of late and after floundering on both the SmackDown and RAW roster needs. A WrestleMania victory over Angle could catapult his wrestling career.
Conventional wisdom would be for Angle to put a young star over on his way out the door. That's the way things were done in the old days, but Corbin's no longer a young star at 34 and his career arrow is hardly pointing north either. Many fans expected Angle to wrestle John Cena in his last ever match. The legend of John Cena was birthed against Kurt Angle and it was Cena who inducted Angle into the WWE Hall of Fame. While Cena is still expected at WrestleMania he likely won't be inserted here, as rumors indicate that he will partake in a special unannounced surprise match.
Corbin may be younger than Angle and at this point more athletically gifted, but he doesn't have Angle's heart, nor does he possess an ounce of Angle's technical acumen. Corbin will attempt to use his athletic ability to take Angle off guard, but inevitably Angle will get his paws on the former NFL star and re-introduce Corbin to the ankle lock. Angle gets a final victory and another WrestleMania moment, as his legendary career comes to a close.
