The WWE Hall of Fame is an annual event conducted by the WWE to honor personalities for their contribution to the field of pro wrestling. It was created in 1993 when Andre The Giant was posthumously inducted with a video package as the sole inductee of that year.
The first ceremony of the event took place a year later, in 1994. The said edition and the 1995 editions were the two Hall of Fame events to be conducted with the King of the Ring tournament while the 1996 edition was conducted before the Survivor Series.
WWE retired the ceremony after 1996 and brought it back in 2004. This time it was shifted to the day before WrestleMania, the slot held by it to date. Since 2015, The WWE Hall of Ceremonies are shown live on the WWE Network.
The WWE Hall of Fame initially only inducted individuals, groups, and tag teams. This was expanded to Celebrities and the Legacy wing. After the death of The Ultimate Warrior, WWE announced the Warrior Award for individuals that exhibited strength and perseverance that embodies the spirit of the Ultimate Warrior, with the first being presented at the WWE Hall of Fame 2015 ceremony. The first recipient was a late eight-year-old fan, Connor Michalek.
