Prince Nana, talent scout of Ring Of Honor sent out a tweet today posting a picture with Barrett, saying that business might have just picked up more for Ring Of Honor. This is an extremely interesting move as there is no doubt ROH would correctly utilize the talent of Barrett. He could perhaps even be one of the main event players of ROH, and it would also leave the door open to New Japan Pro Wrestling. Here is Prince Nana’s tweet below:
Wade Barrett has always been considered as one of WWE’s greatest missed opportunities for WWE. Several people in the WWE Universe felt that he could have hung around the main event level and could have even been world champion. There were definitely huge plans for Barrett as at one point, he was seriously considered to be The Undertaker’s opponent at Wrestlemania 27. Barrett debuted on the main roster in 2010 with his fellow NXT mates as The Nexus. They were in one of the most interesting storylines in years and were riding a huge wave of momentum, with Barrett having the bulk of it. However, their momentum came to a screeching halt after their defeat to John Cena’s team at Summerslam 2010. Many, including the people of team Cena (and later Cena himself), admitted that it was the wrong decision and that Nexus should have gone over.

More emphasis was given to Barrett being lost creatively because of the amount of potential that the WWE Universe felt he had. For years following that, Barrett floated around the mid-card, winning quite a few Intercontinental Championships in the process. However, there was nothing really there for him creatively, and he had taken a call in 2015 to leave the WWE when his contract expired, and that he did by leaving at the end of May 2016.
Barrett revealed after his departure that he would be taking time off from wrestling and would be focusing on other projects. One of the other projects of his is acting as he has even done a lead role in a film named Vengeance.
He has, however, openly stated that he will return to wrestling at some point. Now, it seems like that day is just around the corner.
