Why Dean Ambrose is the star to watch out for

This might be the umpteenth article which highlights why Dean Ambrose is the star to look out for. So, all those who are not so fond of him, read this at your own risk. The Shield were great as a team and whenever they reunite, even if it’s for a short while, it will be welcomed with open arms because they were just that incredible together. They were so good that it led many fans to think if their solo careers will be as eventful and as spellbinding as their tag team. I mean, they might go on to have an accomplished singles run but the comparisons with the Shield will linger on. But, for now it seems, Ambrose has moved beyond those comparisons.

The Beginning

Soon after Seth Rollins turned heel, it was speculated that Ambrose and Reigns will now work as a duo or else there will be a new member. To me, that just seemed stale because nothing can compare to the original. These three brought something different, their own style to their team and that accentuated their aura as one of the best teams in the history of this company. But it was pleasantly surprising to see Ambrose in his new gear and having a new entrance theme in just two weeks after the dissolution led by Rollins. His gear which comprises of a tank top and jeans suits his derailed character just so well. It gives him a look similar to many others in the audience in the arena and at home. It gives him an edgy, different look. And combine it with his attitude and then you have succeeded in making a character look edgy and the same time very relatable and different as well. You see, Luke Harper dresses more or less the same way but you will still be able to differentiate between Ambrose and harper in the ring because of their different styles. Or else, if they ever square off, Ambrose can wear a black vest. No big deal. Moving on to the point, let’s revisit everything that Ambrose has done since being on his own.

WWE has its superstars appear on many shows in a week. That involves Main Event, raw and Smackdown. It is very easy to appear repetitive in promos and matches and lose the interest and control over the crowd. John Cena does not even appear much on main Event or Smackdown but he still succeeds in being repetitive week after week. So do much of the roster. And so in an era when the art of cutting a promo has been lost on most stars, Ambrose stands apart.

The Present

His style never comes across as being mechanical. And if WWE is a theatre then Ambrose is one of its best actors. He plays his character in a way that you become interested in what he does and what he has to say. His promo where he vowed to deconstruct Rollins’ face is probably the best promo I have heard in a while. It was simple and effective. That is it. He has been simple and effective in his approach in the ring and on the mic. Being a singles competitor has accentuated his wrestling style which was not flourishing to its full potential in a team.

Stone Cold wore a T Shirt and hot pants. In a hypermasculine world such as the WWE, Stone Cold made hot pants look cool. He was not flashy. He was just too badass and the embodiment of the anti-hero in the WWE. Dean Ambrose is the one who was betrayed, he was the one who has been wronged and hence he has the audience’s support. But his attitude is not like that of a virtuous babyface with all smiles and moral lessons.

He may truly have become an anti-hero already.
