On the latest episode of Talking Smack, Renee Young and Daniel Bryan discussed Zack Ryder getting injured, but at that point, the extent of it was not known. However, it is now clear. According to a report from WWE.com, the former Intercontinental Champion suffered a knee injury during the Battle Royal to determine the #1 Contenders to the Smackdown Tag Team Championship

WWE Doctor Chris Robinson stated "We think he injured his kneecap or his patella. We think it popped out and then popped back in, so we're just going to do an MRI to make sure that there is not cartilage damage or some tendon tearing, stuff like that

He went on to say: “Hopefully there's not and it'll be a shorter rehab period. If there is, there's a different road we might have to go down that may take longer to get him to recover."

The report by WWE.com also stated that Ryder was carried to the trainer’s room after the match and is currently on crutches.

The Hype Bros just began to gain momentum, and being involved with The Wyatts would have been Zack Ryder’s first major program since Wrestlemania 32, and would have Mojo Rawley’s first major program since debuting on the main roster in July.

The Hype Bros beat The Ascension last week. While it was one victory, The Hype Bros cut a promo before the match indicating their intention to go after The New Wyatt Family’s Smackdown Tag Team Championships.

It will be interesting to see what WWE decide to do with the program between The Hype Bros and The New Wyatt Family now that Ryder is injured. They very likely may need to set up another #1 Contenders match.
