The Thunder will end up with 150 in the end and they have fallen short by a big margin here. It was a tough run chase where they were down and out for the most part till Phoebe Litchfield put on an absolute show and gave them a glimmer of hope for an unlikely win under extremely difficult circumstances.

The start was really shaky for the Thunder as they failed to get off the blocks early and lost both their openers inside six overs. It was always going to be a herculean task for them there onwards as they were always playng the catch up game with the required run rate. Marizanne Kapp hung around for a while but she wasn't able to make any significant impact with the bat as she was dimissed for 18.

Litchfield joined forces with Anika Learoyd at this juncture and the pair put on a delightful partnership in which they played some eye catching shots. Litchfield in particular went hell for leather against the spinner as she cleared the boundary at will and managed to score four massive sixes in her innings of 68. It turned out to be her second fifty of the season but it wasn't enough to get her side over the line.

The Hurricanes bowlers were superb upfront. Spare of thought for Ismail who was superb with the new ball but went wicketless as there was a dropped chance of her bowling. Molly Strano, the highest wicket taker in WBBL history was the pick of the bowlers yet again as she got two wickets while Nicola Carey and the local teenager Amy Smith chipped in with one wicket each from their respective spells.
