17-year-old Indian Badminton sensation P.V Sindhu clinched her maiden level three title by defeating Gu Juan of Singapore 21-17 17-21 21-19 in the final of Yonex Sunrise Malaysia Open Grand Prix Gold Tournament. Sindhu, who is currently the World No. 13, defeated the World No. 27 in an hour and 11 minutes.
Top-seeded Sindhu started the match with a bang as she took the first 5 points in a row, but then Juan made the comeback and took the next 5 points thus making the scores 5-5. Sindhu, who was leading 11-10 at the mid-game interval of the first game, took the next 2 points thus making the scores 13-11. After that, it was all Sindhu in the first game.
Sindhu’s start to the second game was not as good, as she was trailing 6-9 at one stage in that game. But Sindhu somehow managed to make the comeback as she took a 2-point lead after the mid game interval. The scores were 15-all at one stage in the second game, but after that Juan showed her class and took the next 3 points. Sindhu gave her best to make a comeback, but unfortunately lost the second game 17-21.
The third game was a lot more evenly contested. Both the players were fighting hard for each and every point. Juan was looking very good in the first half of that game, as she took a 4-point lead to make the score 11-7. Things got worse for Sindhu as Juan was leading that game 8-14. But after that, the 17-year-old Indian shuttler made an outstanding comeback as she took the scores to 15-16. Sindhu, who was leading 20-18 in that game, won the game 21-19.
