Mercedes Mone is an American professional wrestler and actress. Her real name is Mercedes Justine Kaestner-Varnado and she was born on January 26, 1992, in Fairfield, California, USA. Currently competing in All Elite Wrestling (AEW) under the ring name Mercedes Moné, she boasts an impressive career spanning multiple promotions. Moné's journey began on the independent circuit in 2010 before she was signed by WWE in 2012. There, under the moniker Sasha Banks, she became a multi-time champion and a cornerstone of the company's evolving women's division.

She became a Grand Slam Women’s Champion in WWE having won the RAW, SmackDown, NXT Women’s Championships and WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship. In 2022, Moné transitioned away from WWE and ventured into the world of Japanese wrestling. Debuting for New Japan Pro-Wrestling (NJPW) and its sister promotion World Wonder Ring Stardom, she competed under the Mercedes Moné name and captured the prestigious IWGP Women's Championship. In March 2024, she made a debut in AEW, christening a new chapter in her wrestling narrative.

Is Mercedes Mone Heel or Face?

Mercedes Mone is currently a tweener in All Elite Wrestling. Her character alignment in AEW is currently a work in progress. While initially presented as a babyface upon her debut in March 2024, her demeanor has exhibited characteristics of both a face and a heel, making her a tweener. As time passes in AEW, Mone can eventually shift towards a face, a heel, or might even continue performing as a tweener.

A tweener is a wrestler who doesn't strictly adhere to the traditional hero/villain dynamic. They can be admired for their talent but also display arrogance or questionable tactics. This ambiguity keeps the audience guessing about their true intentions and can lead to exciting character development. An example of a well-known tweener is Stone Cold Steve Austin. While he often fought against heels, his rebellious attitude and disregard for authority figures blurred the lines between good and evil, making him a fan favorite despite his questionable actions.
