Recently, wrestling fans saw Kevin Owens' former partner finally return to Tony Khan's promotion ROH after 241 days. The star in question is Ricky Gibson.
Ricky is currently working in the independent circuit. On the September 13, 2024, episode of Friday Night Smackdown, he made a one-time appearance in WWE. He was revealed as the mystery tag team partner for Kevin Owens against A-Town Down Under (Austin Theory & Grayson Waller). However, Gibson didn't wrestle because KO hit him with a Stunner after learning that his real tag team partner, Randy Orton, made it to the show just in time.
The last time fans saw him in Ring of Honor was on February 10 earlier this year. Ricky and his Midnight Heat tag team partner, Eddie Pearl, suffered a loss to The Infantry (Carlie Bravo & Shawn Dean) on ROH on HonorClub.
On October 8th, Gibson made a return to Ring of Honor at the ROH on HonorClub tapings. Teaming up with Eddie Pearl. The duo faced off against the MxM Collection (Mason Madden & Mansoor).
Interesting details on Kevin Owens' heel turn
Joe Lowry revealed some interesting details about KO's heel turn on the Live Q&A with WrestleVotes and Bill Apter. He disclosed that not many people knew about this twist except for Rhodes, Owens, and a few members of the creative team. Therefore, the event was shocking to many WWE stars and crew members as much as it was to the fans.
"Nobody in production had any clue, because there were no cameras, no lighting, nothing of that nature, so it was quite different, going down this road... I'm not even sure how many people knew this was going to happen apart from Cody, Kevin Owens, and maybe a few creative people who designed the idea," he said.
Kevin Owens turned heel and attacked Cody Rhodes after WWE Bad Blood 2024. this happened off-camera during their meeting in the parking lot outside the building.
