Bad Blood 2024

WWE Bad Blood is a PPV event that took place on Saturday, October 5, 2024, live from the State Farm Arena in Atlanta, Georgia. This was the fourth event in the history of Bad Blood events and was the first since the 2004 event. The event took up the October spot in the WWE PPV Calendar preceded by No Mercy in September and Crown Jewel in November 2024.

Hell in a Cell Match - CM Punk vs. Drew McIntyre

The feud between CM Punk and Drew McIntyre has been the most heated one in 2024. It began after CM Punk eliminated McIntyre at Royal Rumble 2024, and then the Scottish Psychopath started mocking Punk on social media. CM Punk then cost Drew McIntyre his title match at WrestleMania XL, then at Clash in the Castle, and then at Money in the Bank in his Money in the Bank cash-in match. This led to a singles match at SummerSlam where McIntyre won followed by a rematch at Bash in Berlin where CM Punk evened the charts. A third match between the two stars was then set up for Bad Blood in a Hell in a Cell match. At the event, Punk defeated McIntyre after 31 minutes.

WWE Women's Championship - Nia Jax (c) vs. Bayley

Nia Jax won the Queen of the Ring tournament, leading to a SummerSlam match against Bayley for the SmackDown Women's Championship, which she won. However, her reign was troubled by interference from her ally, Tiffany Stratton. After a series of events, including a tag team match with Stratton against Bayley and Naomi, Bayley was declared the winner and earned a title shot at Bad Blood, where she failed to defeat Nia Jax.

Damian Priest vs. Finn Balor

At SummerSlam 2024, Dominik Mysterio betrayed Rhea Ripley while Finn Balor later turned on fellow Judgment Day member and then-World Heavyweight Champion Damian Priest in his match against Gunther, causing him to lose the title. At Bash in Berlin, Priest and Ripley defeated Mysterio and Liv Morgan. Thereafter, Priest turned his attention to Finn Balor, and the two stars will now take on each other at WWE Bad Blood. At the event, Priest won the match after about 13 minutes.

Women's World Championship - Liv Morgan (c) vs. Rhea Ripley

At SummerSlam 2024, Liv Morgan defended her Women's World Championship against Rhea Ripley who was supported by Dominik Mysterio on the ringside. However, Mysterio betrayed Ripley in the match and aligned himself with Morgan, thus helping her win. At Bash in Berlin, Morgan and Mysterio lost in a Mixed Tag Team Match to Ripley and Priest. The Eradicator then earned herself a title shot against Morgan at WWE Bad Blood 2024. Dominik Mysterio was suspended on the shark cage. Raquel Rodriguez made her return to WWE and helped Liv Morgan retain the title.

Cody Rhodes & Roman Reigns vs. The Bloodline

At WrestleMania XL, Cody Rhodes defeated Roman Reigns to end his 1316-day title reign. Reigns went on an indefinite hiatus following the defeat and the Bloodline was taken over by Solo Sikoa, who admitted Jacob Fatu, Tama Tonga and Tonga Loa to the group while kicking out Jimmy Uso and even Paul Heyman. Now calling himself The Tribal Chief, he challenged Rhodes for the title at SummerSlam, but lost the match after Roman Reigns interfered and helped Rhodes retain.

Over the following weeks, Reigns and The Bloodline went to war with each other while Cody Rhodes again defended his title against Sikoa on the September 13 episode of SmackDown in a Steel Cage match. Following the vicotory, Rhodes was assaulted by The Bloodline before being rescued by Reigns. A tag team match between the two teams was confirmed later that night. At the event, Reigns pinned Sikoa to win the match for the team. Jimmy Uso and The Rock made returns to WWE after the match.

WWE Bad Blood 2024 Hosts

WWE Bad Blood 2024 was hosted by co-hosted wrestlers Noami, Jade Cargill, and Bianca Belair. All three wrestlers are currently drafted to SmackDownm where Cargill and Belair were also the reigning Women's Tag Team Champions. The three wrestlers have already teamed up in WWE, most notably at WrestleMania XL where they defeated Damage CTRL in a Six-Woman Tag Team Match. At Bad Blood, the three talented stars reunited to present all the action of the event.

Returns at WWE Bad Blood 2024

Bad Blood 2024 was filled with surprising returns to WWE. The Rock made an appearance for the first time since the SmackDown after WrestleMania XL. Following the main event match where Roman Reigns and Cody Rhodes won against The Bloodline, The Rock made his return to stare down Reigns and Rhodes. He was, however, not the only wrestler to make his return after the main event.

After Reigns and Rhodes had won, they were ambushed by rest of The Bloodline, but Jimmy Uso made his WWE return after about six months, and reunited with Reigns. Earlier that night, Raquel Rodriguez had made her WWE return to help Liv Morgan retain her Women's World Championship against Rhea Ripley. Also, WWE Hall of Famer Goldberg had an intense staredown with the World Heavyweight Champion Gunther.

WWE Bad Blood 2024 took place on Saturday, October 5, 2024. This falls in line with WWE’s practice of organizing Premium Live Events on Saturday rather than its earlier practice of doing so on a Sunday. October 5, 2024, is also the 27th Anniversary of the first-ever Bad Blood event, which was held in 1997. The event started two hours earlier than other WWE PPVs to avoid a clash with UFC 307, which took place on the same night.

WWE Bad Blood 2024 will take place live from the State Farm Arena in Atlanta, Georgia. The event is known to host many professional wrestling events including Royal Rumble (2002, 2010), Backlash 2007, Hell in a Cell 2012, Day One 2022, Survivor Series 2015, Hall of Fame 2011, and also a marquee episode of Dynamite. The stadium has a seating capacity of 16,600 fans for basketball matches, and more than 21,000 for concerts.

The tickets for WWE Bad Blood 2024 are available on the official WWE website via Ticketmaster. For the seats that are currently still on sale, the prices range from $110 for seats afar to more than $1000 for seats near the squared circle.

WWE Bad Blood History

Bad Blood is a professional wrestling event that WWE used years ago and is now bringing it back in 2024. The first event was in June 1997, before the Attitude Era and when it was called WWF. After one edition, Bad Blood was shelved before being brought in 2003. At that time, WWE had introduced the draft extension and each brand was getting its own pay-per-view event, and Bad Blood was drafted to Monday Night RAW.

The event was held for two consecutive years in 2003 and 2004 in the month of June. The next year, WWE bought ECW and introduced the One Night Stand pay-per-view which took the spot of Bad Blood on the WWE PPV Calendar. While One Night Stand was eventually removed after ECW was replaced by NXT, Bad Blood was not brought back until 2024. There were plans to bring Bad Blood back in 2017. However, WWE introduced a new event by the name Great Balls of Fire, which lasted only one edition.
