According to a three-time WWE champion, The Hardy Boyz had issues working with veterans. The star in question is Perry Saturn.
Matt and Jeff Hardy competed against Saturn and his stablemates from The Radicalz several times in WWE in 2000. The latter faction consisted of former WCW performers Saturn, Eddie Guerrero, Chris Benoit, and Dean Malenko.
During a discussion on Wrestling Shoot Interviews, Perry Saturn shed light on his experience working with Team Xtreme. He revealed that Matt and Jeff Hardy shared a close relationship with long-time WWE producer Michael Hayes and would work with the latter to formulate their matches.
This would prompt the three-time WWE champion to ask Matt Hardy to inform him and the veteran Malenko of their game plan.
“Actually, Matt Hardy — me and Dean had a huge problem with him too,” Saturn said. “[In] WWF, he went to Vince [McMahon] to complain that I was beating them up every night. They would … they were very tight with Michael Hayes and they would get together at night and set up the next day’s matches. Dean [Malenko] had more time in the ring than all of us, and both of us told [Matt], ‘Don’t do that,’ you know, ‘You got to let us f**king in on what’s going.'”
Saturn suggested that The Broken One often ignored his request to communicate with him and Malenko, resulting in friction during their matches against The Hardys. He also confessed that both sides could have handled their issues more healthily.
“And I would tell him, ‘You got to give Dean the respect.’ To not tell him what we’re doing, you know … And they would do it and do it and do it and then that was it. Finally, Jeff, I’d bump all over the place for, Matt [would] come in, I cut him off, you know, and just it was not … they could have handled it better and so could have we.” [H/T, 411Mania]
WWE legend Matt Hardy wants to end his career with his brother
The Hardys are regarded as legends in the annals of tag team wrestling. The duo has succeeded in various promotions, including ROH, TNA, and WWE.
While Matt is appearing in TNA, Jeff Hardy is still signed with AEW.
During an interview with ComicBook, Matt Hardy said he wanted to finish his pro-wrestling career with The Charismatic Enigma.
"That would definitely be our goal," Matt told ComicBook. "It is very important to us to finish how we started. We started as two brothers on this journey. Our goal was to win the tag team titles of the world one time, and obviously we did that many times over. We do want to end that way."
It remains to be seen what the future holds for The Hardy Boyz in light of Matt's recent claim that Jeff Hardy has been cleared for action.
