The Hardy Boyz are seemingly open to squaring off against a top AEW tag team if they decide to sign with WWE. The latter are none other than The Lucha Bros.
Despite being among the original centerpieces of All Elite Wrestling's tag division since its earliest days, recent reports indicate that Penta El Zero Miedo and Rey Fenix are looking to leave the Jacksonville-based promotion once their contract expires. The former AEW World Tag Team Champions are also supposedly interested in jumping ship to WWE.
Amid developing rumors surrounding the All Elite exit of The Lucha Bros and the prospect of the duo heading to the Triple H-led company, Matt Hardy teased a future clash pitting him and his brother Jeff Hady against the highly popular masked luchadors. Taking to X/Twitter, Matt wrote:
"This match hasn't happened on a big platform yet, but we all want it to!" wrote Hardy.
New Champs in WWE! More RIGHT HERE
The Broken One concluded his four-year stint in All Elite Wrestling earlier this year after he opted not to re-sign with the Tony Khan-led promotion. While he shared the ring with Fenix and Penta in several tag matches during his time in AEW and even lost to the latter in a single match in 2022, Matt, alongside Jeff Hardy, has not wrestled The Lucha Brothers in a standard tag bout since their 2017 battle at a WrestleCon SuperShow in Florida.
It remains to be seen if Penta El Zero Miedo and Rey Fenix will compete against The Hardys in WWE or TNA.
Matt Hardy thinks AEW's Daniel Garcia could be a star in WWE
Another AEW star whose status in the promotion has been a matter of question in recent weeks is Daniel Garcia. The Red Death has not been seen on All Elite programming since being destroyed by MJF several weeks ago on Dynamite.
During a recent episode of his podcast, The Extreme Life of Matt Hardy, the veteran suggested that All Elite Wrestling booked Garcia to be written off of television following Friedman's assault so that they could slot him into a major feud with the reigning AEW American Champion should he decide to stay in the promotion.
Hardy also argued that the former ROH Pure Champion would rise to stardom if he signed with WWE.
"So I think DG is so young. Whatever decision he makes, if he stays at AEW, he’s going to be good. I think he’s gonna get an opportunity, and he is going to get the opportunity to do this thing with MJF, whatever it may be. I think if he goes to WWE, he’s going to be good. He’s gonna become a star. You just never know. It is hard to tell. I think he’s just so young," Matt said.
Matt Hardy currently appears in TNA and recently wrestled Nick Gage to a no-contest at a GCW show on August 2.
