AEW and WWE recently competed behind the scenes to secure a top talent's services. Despite two significant performances, the multi-time champion has reportedly passed on becoming All Elite in favor of joining the global juggernaut.

Stephanie Vaquer is no longer with CMLL and NJPW. She has been stripped of the CMLL World Women's Championship and the CMLL World Women's Tag Team Championship, which she held with Zeuxis as the inaugural winner. The promotions announced today that Vaquer elected to leave both companies effective immediately, citing personal reasons.

The announcement comes just days after it was revealed that the 31-year-old received offers from WWE and AEW due to her recent performances in the latter organization.

La Primera is expected to be headed to World Wrestling Entertainment. A new report from Fightful Select notes that she is not signed to All Elite Wrestling and is not close to finalizing a deal, although interest was conveyed.

Per the report, WWE began showing interest in Vaquer after Forbidden Door. All Elite sources who were at the shows last weekend were under the belief that the 31-year-old was likely headed to WWE. CMLL has previously allowed talents out of their contracts when they've received significant offers from promotions in the United States.

CMLL and NJPW also apologized to their fans for the abrupt announcement. A new World Women's Champion will be crowned on Saturday at FantasticaMania USA as AEW's Willow Nightingale takes on NJPW's Viva Van and CMLL's Lluvia in a Triple Threat bout.

WWE is headed to Mexico later this month, so they may announce her signing during that three-day tour. Vaquer holds citizenship in Chile and Mexico.

Stephanie Vaquer had interest in a big AEW rematch

Forbidden Door 2024 event saw Mercedes Moné enter as the AEW TBS Champion and leave with a second title around her waist, the NJPW Strong Women's Championship. She defeated Stephanie Vaquer in a 17-minute Winner Takes All bout.

Vaquer had expressed interest in a rematch almost immediately. She had impressed All Elite Wrestling fans even before Forbidden Door, as she defeated Lady Frost on Collision the weekend before, which was her in-ring debut for the company.

Moné never publicly commented on the rematch request. Vaquer is expected to sign with WWE, but it remains to be seen when she will arrive. She has never wrestled for the Stamford-based company.
