The Indian Premier League (IPL) season is back for its eighteenth edition in 2025. Notable for being the most popular form of Twenty20 cricket league being played in India, the league consists of ten different teams from ten different Indian cities who compete in group state and playoff matches to crown themselves the Indian Premier League (IPL) Champions every year. The 2025 IPL season kicks off on March 22, 2024 and will be concluding on May 25, 2025 comprising 74 matches in total.
The teams in the Indian Premier League (IPL) comprises of both veteran as well as newcomers from both within India and other countries. The team gains these players through annual player auctions. These players are notable for settting up their base price and then eventually join the team that bids the highest price for them. IPL teams like the Chennai Super Kings, the Mumbai Indians and the Kolkata Knight Ridgers are some of the most popular teams as they are notable for being multi-time winners in the league. The 2025 edition of the IPL will also lead to one of the existing champion teams adding one more title to their collection or a brand new team becoming the IPL champions for the first time.
Fastest Centuries in IPL
The Indian Premier League (IP) has seen a lot of centuruies being scored since its inauguration in 2008. However, there are several players who have managed to score centuries in the fastest amount of time in these matches. The most notable of these players is Chris Gayle who scored a century in just 30 balls while representing his team, the Royal Challengers Bangalore against the Pune Warriors on April 23, 2013. He would then go on to score a total of 175 runs in 66 balls in the match. However, there are other players who have also been succerssful in achieiving the same feat in matches.
