The episode begins with Yhwach ordering Lille Barro, Gerald Valkyrie, Askin, Pernida, and Uryu to decimate the Soul Reapers, who trespassed into his sacred Wahrwelt. Meanwhile, Bazz B and the Bambi sisters decide to part ways with the Soul Reapers, wanting to seek revenge against Yhwach in their own way. Shunsui doesn't force them to stay back and leads the Soul Reapers to the castle.
Elsewhere, Yoruichi senses the Soul Reapers' Spiritual Pressure. Ichigo feels they must head for the castle too. On the other side, Shunsui realizes that Mayuri Kurotsuchi isn't with them.
Interestingly, the 12th Division captain re-enters Wahrwelt, except at a different zone. He feels it's the ideal opportunity for him to demonstrate the fruits of his research. However, his plans are slightly spoiled as Kenpachi Zaraki, accompanied by Ikkaku, Yumichika, and Hanataro sneaks in from the gate.
Meanwhile, Orihime from Ichigo's group wishes they could have joined Renji, Rukia, and others. However, Grimmjow feels having a bigger party will only make them less mobile. Suddenly, he observes Askin standing at some distance. He leaps forward and charges at the Sternritter.
Askin, however, refuses to fight Grimmjow and runs away. Elsewhere, Bazz B, Liltotto, and Giselle reach closer to the castle. The episode then switches to Askin, who is chased by Grimmjow. Eventually, Askin uses a special technique called Gift Ball to immobilize the Espada. He reveals it's laced with poison.
Elsewhere in Wahrwelt, Lille Barro snipes a few Soul Reapers, including Shuhei and Isane from Shunsui's group. The captain commander orders his comrades to go forward. Just then, Renji confronts Uryu Ishida, who blocks his way to the castle.
Renji asks Uryu a few questions to be sure that he's not on their side. After realizing he's an enemy, Renji Abari activates his true Bankai, So-Oh Zabimaru against Uryu. He demonstrates a wide range of abilities to corner Uryu, who eventually activates his Vollstandig to counter Renji's onslaught.
During the battle, a flashback scene of Renji's training period with Ichibe reveals that he must pour his Spiritual Pressure into his Zanpakuto for at least 20 seconds to unleash the Bankai's true power and maintain its form. Renji does that and uses Zagaizekko to incinerate his surroundings.
However, Uryu survives. The Quincy then uses Sklave Rai to gather Reishi from his surroundings to heal his wounds. Uryu Ishida counters Renji's Bankai with a special move called Fever Zwinger to deprive him of his Spiritual Pressure, and his Shikai and Bankai as a result.
Even then, Renji activates a fraction of his Bankai's power to launch a final attack. However, Uryu fires an arrow to pierce Renji's chest. The episode ends with Uryu emerging victorious in his battle against Renji.

Bleach TYBW part 3 episode 8 is titled Baby, Hold Your Hand. As evident from the title preview and the ending poem recited by Mayuri, the episode will likely show the 12th Division Captain in action against one of the Schutzstaffel.
