2015 Denmark Open Superseries Premier: PV Sindhu pulls off an excellent win to enter the final

PV Sindhu is ecstatic after beating Carolina Marin on Saturday

In a massive result for India, PV Sindhu defeated the reigning World champion Carolina Marin 21-15 18-21 21-17 in the semi-final of the Denmark Open Superseries Premier on Saturday.

The opening game saw the Indian assume control of proceedings after the 3-3 mark as she won 5 points straight to go 8-3 up. After leading 11-6 at the break, Sindhu maintained the pressure on Marin, clinching points at regular intervals to eventually seal the game 21-15.

The second game saw Marin make a feisty comeback, especially from the 6-6 mark as she won 5 points straight to lead 11-6 at the break, She continued to have the upper hand after the break, not allowing Sindhu any space to enter into the match and eventually won it 21-18 to take the match into a decider.

The decider was an absolutely engrossing contest as both players remained neck-and-neck but the vital turn for the Indian arrived after the interval when she made an exceptional comeback to go from being 9-11 down to make it 18-16 in her favour and when the moment dawned upon her, she held her nerve to pull off a terrific victory and progress through to the final.

This is the third time in this tournament that she has defeated a top 10- player. She will face Li Xuerui in the final on Sunday. It will also be Sindhu's maiden Superseries Premier final.
