In a massive blow for India, World No.1 Saina Nehwal was knocked out of the Denmark Open Superseries premier, losing to Minatsu Mitani of Japan 21-18 21-13 in the second round on Thursday.
The opening game saw both players match one another point-for-point until the 9-9 mark, from where Mitani started to take control, taking the lead to go in front and remaining ahead of her higher-ranked opponent throughout to win the game 21-18.

The second game started off on a similar note but Mitani took control much earlier in the second game as compared to the first, and raced away from the 5-5 mark, never allowing Saina to make inroads to eventually win the game 21-13 and move into the quarterfinals.
This is, incidentally, the second consecutive time that the Indian has lost to the same opponent at the same stage of the competition after losing to her at the Japan Open Superseries last month.
Final Scoreline- Minatsu Mitani beat Saina Nehwal 21-18 21-13
