India’s HS Prannoy progressed through to the second round of the 2015 Japan Open Superseries after beating Wong Wing Ki Vincent of Hong Kong 23-21 22-20 in the first round o Wednesday.
The opening game saw Vincent take a 4-1 lead and then at the 6-3 mark, won a further four points to go 10-3 up. Prannoy then began to slowly claw back into the match, pegging him at constant intervals and he eventually brought the match back on level terms at 17-17. It was a topsy-turvy affair after that, but at the 21-21 mark, Prannoy claimed a game point opportunity and then converted it on the first chance to win the game 23-21.
The second game followed a similar tale as Vincent raced to a 9-2 early lead before Prannoy once again started to get his groove back and began to make a comeback into the contest. Just like in the opening game, Prannoy once again managed to hold in to hos nerve at the right moments, securing a game point at the 21-20 mark before clinching the game 22-20 to win the match and move into the next round.
