India’s Kidambi Srikanth moved into the second round of the 2015 Japan Open Superseries after beating Scott Evans of Ireland 21-18 21-15 in the opening round of the competition on Wednesday.
The World No.4 began thematch on a positive note, winning points consistently and took control at the 6-6 mark, winning 4 points at a stretch to go 10-6 up. He continued to maintain the pressure on his opponent and evenbtually clinched the gme 21-18 in his favour.
The second game began on a more even note as both players 4 out of their first 8 points each before the Indian won 3 points straight to go 7-4 up. But Evans fought back very well, to first level scores at 7-7 and then took the lead to go 8-7 up. It was a topsy-turvy affair after that until the 11-11 mark, when Srikanth won 5 points straight to go 16-11 up. He then maintained that lead to eventually winthe game 21-15 and move into the next round.
It will be an all-Indian second clash as Srikanth will face off against Parupalli Kashyap.
