The inconsistencies in the form of the Indian shuttlers was on view once again on Thursday, as PV Sindhu suffered yet another early exit from a competition, losing to Sayaka Takahashi of 21-16 21-13 in the second round of the Korea Open Superseries.
The opening few points proved to be a neck-and-neck affair, but from the 7-7 mark, Takahashi started to assume control of proceedings, winning points on a consistent basis thereby putting pressure on the Indian. Despite her best efforts, Sindhu couldn't prevent handing her opponent the first game 21-16.
The second game saw Takahashi win 3 points on the trot after breaking the deadlock at the 2-2 mark and take total control of proceedings, at the 7-6 mark, when she won 5 points straight to go 12-7 up. Afer Sindhu had won 3 points on the trot to reduce the deficit slightly, The Japanese shuttler exerted further pressure on her, by winning 5 points consecutively to go 18-12 up and eventually knocked the Indian out by closing the game at 21-13.
This loss only further continues Sindhu’s poor run in the year 2015 and with more sterner tests ahead of her, with the likes of the Denmark Open Superseries Premier, she desperately has to pick up her performance and look to reach the business end of competitions more often.
Final Scoreline- Sayaka Takahashi beat PV Sindhu 21-16 21-13
