India had pretty productive opening day of the Badminton World Championships as both the Men’s Singles players in contention- Parupalli Kashyap and Kidambi Srikanth registered straight games victories against Erik Meijs of Netherlands and Alex Yuwan Tjong if Brazil respectively.
The Women’s doubles pairing of Pradnya Gadre and Sikki Reddy earned a hard-fought victory over Isabel Herttrich and Birgit Michels while their male counterparts- Pranaav Jerry Chopra and Akshay Dewalkar, also got their campaign off to a winning start- winning their first round match in 3 games.
India, though, had to suffer disappointment in the mixed doubles category- as both pairs of Arun Vishnu and Aparna Balan and Tarun Kona and Sikki Reddy bowed out in the first round.
