World No.4 Kidambi Srikanth moved into the second round of the 2015 World Championships with a 21-10 21-13 victory over Michael Fariman of Australia in the opening round on Tuesday.
The match began on an even note but it was Srikanth, who took the early 8-6 lead and then maintained that lead, to finish at 11-7 at the interval mark. Followinmg the break, the Indian continued to have a hold in proceedings, eventually winning the opening game convincingly 21-10.
The second game began on a similar note as te first, but at the 6-6 mark, it was the No.3 seed who started to assume control of proceedings once again, and romped home to a 21-13 second game win and ease into the second round of the competition.
He will face Hsu Jen Hao of Chinese Taipei in the second round.
With this win, both the the Men’s Singles contenders- Parupalli Kashyap and Srikanth have won the first matches respectively. Kashyap recorded a straight games win over Erik Meijs of Netherlands on Monday to move into the next round.
