The 20-year-old provided India with the highlight of the day, defeating the reigning Olympic champion Li Xuerui in three games to move into the quarters.She will take on Sung Ji Hyun of Japan in the final 8.
Saina Nehwal also made her way into the quarterfinals, beating Sayaka Takahashi in straight games. She will take on Wang Yihan of China in the quarters.
In the Women’s doubles Jwala Gutta and Ashwini Ponnappa won their third round match in three games and will face Nakao Fukuman and Kurumi Yonao of Japan in the final 8..
So, it promises to be yet another exciting day of action and one can only hope for all 3 to make it to the semis and move that much closer to win a medal.
