In what would come as a big boost in confidence ahead of Rio, shuttlers Manu Attri and Sumeeth Reddy progressed through to the final of the Canada Open after beating Andrei Adistia and Adam Dong of Canada in straight games 21-15 21-19 in the semifinal on Saturday.
Right from the opening game , the Indian pairing assumed control of proceedings, taking giant leads in the game, leading 11-4 at the break in the opening game, not allowing any space for the home duo to take control at any point to eventually seal the game 21-15.
The second game began with the Canadia duo taking the lead as they went 9-4 up, but the Indian pair fought back to rest control once again, particularly from being 14-18 down, clinching 4 points straight to level the score at 18-18 before winning 3 out of the next 4 points to win the game 21-19 and book their place in the final.
