India’s Ajay Jayaram bowed out in the semifinal stage of the US Open Grand Prix Gold, after losing to Kanta Tsuneyama of Japan 21-10 21-14 on Saturday.
The opening game saw a close beginning with just one point separating the two players at the 7-6 mark, however, the tide shifted in favour of the Japanese player at that stage as he won 11 out of the next 12 points to storm ahead to an 18-7 lead. The conclusion of the game was just a mere formality after that and he won it 21-10.
The second game proved to be a much closer affair as both players gave it their all, until the 15-14 mark, when Tsuneyama unleashed a burst of 6 points straight to take the game 21-14 and book his place in the final on Sunday.
This was Jayaram’s second consecutive loss in the semifinal stage in as many competitions this in the last fortnight.
He took to Twitter later to express satisfaction over his performance.
