India’s Ajay Jayaram entered the semifinals of the US Open Grand Prix Gold after beating fellow countrymen Anand Pawar 21-11 21-11 in the quarterfinal stage on Friday.
The younger of the two Indians was in full control from the start, racing away to a 6-0 lead in the opening game before making it 11-6 at the interval. After the break, he continued to dominate proceedings, not allowing him to settle down at any point to eventually clinch the game 21-11.
The second game seemed like a complete repeat of the first as Jayaram took a 7-1 lead before stretching it to 11-7 at the break. There was no respite for Pawar after the interval either as Jayaram held the upper hand and reached the final four stage of the competition.
