PV Sindhu had a magnificent start to the year 2017 when she won her first title at the Syed Modi Grand Pix.

The outstanding shuttler won the first gold title of the year by defeating Indonesia's Gregoria Mariska. Also, this was her maiden win in the tournament. While Sindhu lost the title to Saina Nehwal back in 2014, this year she won by straight games 21-13, 21-14.
Top seed Sindhu dominated the play and outplayed her opponent in the 30-minute game to win $12,000 and her gold title. With this win, Sindhu brought a lot of joy to the Indian fans, who could watch one of their biggest star shuttler win the title from the stands.
