India’s Ajay Jayaram progressed through to the third round with a comfortable 21-9 21-7 win over Jan Frohlich of Czech Republic in the second round of the US Open Grand Prix Gold in just 21 minutes on Wednesday.
Game 1 saw the India get off to a flying start as he raced away to an early 3-0 lead and then further strengthened that advantage by winning 6 out of the next 7 points to take a massive 9-1 lead. He further built on that lead, by winning 5 points at a stretch to take a 14-3 lead. Once the India had gained such a huge lead, there was stopping him and he won the opening game convincingly 21-9.
The second game followed a similar tale as the Dane had absolutely no answer to Jayaram’s strong play and he kept losing points in heaps to eventually go down 21-7 in the second game, thereby handing the Indian a commanding victory.
Jayaram will now face Chou Tien Chen of Chinese Taipei in the third round.
Final Scoreline- Ajay Jayaram(IND) beat Jan Frohlich(DEN) 21-9 21-7
