Anand Pawar moved into Round 3 of Canada Open

India’s Anand Pawar moved into the third round of the 2015 Canada Open after beating Zhu Shiyuan of China 21-17 21-16 in 33 minutes in the second round on Wednesday.

The opening game saw the Indian take a 4-1 lead and then further strengthen his position, by winning 6 points on the trot to go 10-2 up. Although Shiyuan tried to make a comeback into the contest, by winning 5 points on the trot to make it 11-9, it was Pawar, who always held the aces in the game, as he continued to build his lead, eventually taking the game 21-17.

The second game saw a steady battle between the two players, but the Indian, att all points, remained ahead of his Chinese opponent and at the 14-12 mark, won 3 points straight to go 17-12 up. Following that, it was always going to be matter of time before Pawar was going to go through and he did so, by winning 4 out of the next 7 points to progress through to the third round.

He will face the No.2 seed Xue Song of China in the third round.
